When I learned guitar, I used to play this song - not that well or anything, but I managed to do it. It was a favorite of the teacher's.
Those guitar strings really cause fingertips to become calloused.

(I played the Godfather theme on a flute when I was a kid. Might explain my fascination with Don Corleone :)

I was going to post another song, but the Muppets won paws down - or whatever their appendages are called - because of their energetic performance.

I like this Christmas song by Queen, and Freddie's banana hat.

herumtreiber: (blondie!Draco)
I enjoy listening to this Christmas song, and I like this version because the lead singer looks a lot like Draco.

herumtreiber: (Default)
I like this commercial because of the song and the video with the lights. I just love Christmas lights decorating houses and trees :)

herumtreiber: (santa draco)
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I've heard it since I was little but didn't know its name very well. However, it's very similar to the title of one of John le Carré's books, so that helped to find out this video :)

I like this version because it features David Bowie, singing together with Bing Crosby.

In this meme I found online, you have to write down the name of five musicians before answering the questions. Here are mine:

Sarah McLachlan
Linda Ronstadt
Paul Simon
U2
Bon Jovi

Below, the answers and videos:

What was the first song you ever heard by 1? Actually, it was a 'Latter days' video using this song

--

What is your favorite song of 4? My favorite U2 song is '2 hearts beat as one.'

--

What are your favorite lyrics of 5? This one: 'I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride' from Wanted dead or alive

--

How did you get into 3? I'd heard a lot of Simon and Garfunkel, and I liked the songs; this was reinforced by listening to My little town and Graceland. Paul Simon works magic with his lyrics.

Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad? This song from The Joshua tree is hauntingly sad.

--

What is your favorite song by 3? It's got to be this one from the Graceland album because of the lyrics: 'His path was marked by the stars in the Southern Hemisphere / And he walked the length of his days under African skies.'

I've been entranced by this group for quite some time now. In fact, I may have written a story or two about the lead singer because these people are able to seemingly weave magic into their wild lifestyle. It would be a thrill to become part of this aristocratic set, though I don't know if I could withstand the stress they face.

One thing for sure, I would try to convince them to change their manager because that person and his entourage has led them into dire straits. Their clothes look cool on them and their hair makes them the center of attention wherever they go, a perfect mix of Bon Jovi and P!nk.

If I had a Boggart, it would be the animal the name of this band reminds me of. I do love this song and band, though, and the video of 'Wind of change' by Scorpions is awesome. I guess it reminds me of a time when everything seemed possible.

Because I'm bored, I decided to fiddle around with the questions of different memes and mixed them up a bit :) So here are the songs that might be possible Patronuses, performed by some of my favorite bands:

The list... )

A song that walked down the corridor and tripped on a banana peel inadvertently left by the composer, only to trip downstairs and make clanking sounds would make me laugh. Otherwise...

Songs make me feel a variety of emotions, but not laughter. Now if they meant a video... I remember a funny video of the Muppets singing 'Yellow submarine' which made me laugh. Here it is:

I'd say it was awim's 'Kill me.' I even made a Drarry video using this song which has great lyrics and melody. i thought it fit particularly well the bathroom scene in HBP.

I love the title of the song 'Zero to sixty in five' by Pablo Cruise because it fits the song very well. I also remember the first time I heard it  while we were on the highway, traveling to a city hundred miles away. So it kind of fits together, the song and the occasion :) We lost the CD on which the song was and it took a while before i could locate it again.

This song isn't guaranteed to make me fall asleep. It did once, though. I was tired but kept tossing and turning. Finally i donned the earphones and when this song, David Lanz playing Pachelbel's Canon in D, came up, I fell asleep.

The sound of the piano is very soothing.

herumtreiber: (deneuve longing)
When I listened to "The three bells" for the first time, the melody struck me as wistful. The first verses seemed cheerful enough: Someone is born and then marries, the church bells toll and things were okay; but then the final part kicked in and i was like o_O

I don't like the death of a viewpoint character, even in a song. I hate it when it happens in a fic or  movie I'm invested in (I'm looking at you, Wachowskis ;)

That's why I tend to end the fics where I do. In my mind their adventures continue, but i don't want to do a long fic from the 'cradle to the grave.' (with the exception of 'Twin story' but the plot bunny wanted it so :)

The songs... )

herumtreiber: (pensive)
This clip is from 'Ice castles,' which was a movie from '78. I love the way she pirouettes and how she skates to the soaring music. It's enchanting.

The theme was written by Marvin Hamlisch who also composed 'The way we were' and 'The sting.' Sadly, Mr Hamlisch passed away today.

This is a video I made with Marilyn Monroe pictures, set to 'Candle in the wind.'

herumtreiber: (drarrygif11)
... I've listened 20 times today :)

This is a great song. I first heard it a few days ago on the Cloud Atlas trailer. A little youtube research led me to the original artist. It's M83 by Outro.
