A little distraction...
Feb. 28th, 2011 10:09 amI saw this intriguing meme on the page of twilight_tones I liked it, so I'm doing my own.
The Rules:
Don't take too long to think about it.
Fifteen fictional characters (television, films, plays, books, comics) who've influenced you and that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.
1. Lijah Baley and R. Daneel Olivaw from Isaac Asimov’s Robot series
2. Jan Valjean, Fantine from Victor Hugo’s The miserables.
3. The dolphin Creidiki from David Brin’s Startide rising.

Writer's Block: Art imitating life
Feb. 27th, 2011 10:39 amI'd show them Independence Day. Perhaps they'd be traumatized for life or choke on their popcorn. Their eyestalks may even fall out - their tentacles writhe in alarm, whatever.
One thing is sure, they'd realize our mighty viruses can conquer their invulnerable spaceships and go infest some other unsuspecting planet. I hold with Stephen Hawking in this - aliens are not necessarily cuddly ones.
If I showed them ET, they might grab my mobile and call their fleet to attack us. The expense - and the damage - would be enormous.
