Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] harrydracompreg's prompt #17, choosing a prenatal mediwizard.

"I'm glad your father didn't try to strangle me," said Harry, navigating his way in the Manor gardens. His robes seemed to attract the attention of the albino peacocks, which followed him as if they had imprinted on him.

"He isn't like Mother," drawled Draco, "she's wrapped around your little finger. Even gave you that eagle owl, Damara."

Harry stuck his hands in his pockets, inhaling the sweet scent of Narcissa's flowers. It reminded him of daphnes amidst the hydrangea bushes in the neat house on Magnolia Crescent he used to pass on the way to the park.

Draco took Harry's elbow and steered him away from a dangerous plant.

"Father finally accepts you, you know," drawled the Auror, eyeing the way the waning twilight reflected off Harry's modish eyeglasses.

"Took him long enough," huffed Harry, patting his stomach, "your house-elves do pamper me. That apple pie was delicious!"

Draco's mouth watered at the memory of his fiancé licking his fingers.  It made him recall when they had used honey so effectively in their lovemaking.

"Bloody hell," growled Harry, walking faster, "that damned bird just pecked my leg!"

"Don't mind them, Harry!" Draco took out his wand and brandished it at the unruly birds, which were very well acquainted with the gesture. The peacocks scattered away.

Harry puzzled his eyebrows. "Shouldn't they be asleep or something?"

"Father," said Draco laconically.

"What did he—?" Harry couldn't finish his question because he was assaulted by a bout of nausea.

"Harry, what the hell?" Draco widened his eyes, seeing Harry crouching and vomiting his dinner. He bent down and awkwardly patted his shoulders. "Are you all right?"

"Obviously not," said Harry, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He nodded when he felt the effects of Draco's Tergeo.

"Let's go home, shall we?" Draco didn't wait for his answer; he took out the portkey that would take them to Harry's apartment.

oOoOo

"Won't you lay down, Mr Potter?"

Harry rubbed his forehead. He wished Draco was here, but he had been called to a meeting. It was Draco's idea he should see a Healer; he was afraid Harry might get dizzy in the upcoming match and have an accident whilst flying his broom.

"I'm going to do a diagnostic charm in a moment," said Healer Aynesworth. She scribbled her notes on the crisp parchment; the scratching quill making the only sounds in her office in St. Mungo's.

"You've been throwing up for how long exactly?"

"A week," said Harry whilst he unbuttoned his robes. It suddenly felt quite warm in the room.

"And those mood swings you told me about?" She nibbled the point of her quill whilst she looked sideways at a big tome. Harry squinted at it. The book appeared to be as heavy as Hermione's favourite.

"Three days ago," said Harry guiltily. That morning he had thrown a hex at Draco when the blond said he had to go to a meeting. Luckily his fiancé still had his Seeker reflexes; else he would have been sporting a fluffy tail.

Theresa Aynesworth looked up at Harry. She put the quill down and then approached the star of the Montrose Magpies.

"Are you aware that those symptoms might indicate a possible pregnancy?" said the Healer whilst she waved her wand over Harry's midsection.

Harry's eyes widened as he clutched his robes. "You don't think—?"

Aynesworth frowned at the results. There was a blue globe of light above Harry which shimmered briefly before waning.

"Yes, Mr Potter. You're having a baby."

Harry breathed deeply and touched his abdomen gently. Could it be that he and Draco had managed the impossible?

The Healer stuck her wand in the pocket of her robes and said briskly, "You don't seem very surprised, Mr Potter."

"I'm not. I reckon with all the magic I've witnessed through the years, nothing astonishes me."

He sat up whilst the Healer went to her desk. She turned to look at him. "And your partner? Do you mind if I ask why he's not here?"

"Draco had to attend a meeting. He really wanted to come."

She started writing. "I'm making an appointment for you to see the dietician, Mr Potter. You need to eat healthy foods and, of course, a safe environment."

"So that means no Quidditch," said Harry despondently, wondering how he would break the news to his coach. Oliver Wood still considered Quidditch the most important thing in the world.

"Indeed, Mr Potter."

"Can you tell me how it is possible that a man can get pregnant?" said Harry softly whilst he took out from the pocket of his robes the crackers Draco gave him. He was suddenly quite hungry, and dinner was hours away.

"It's very rare," said the Healer, "but I've followed your career through the years, Mr Potter."

"Sure." Harry shrugged. Being the Vanquisher of Voldemort meant his life was open to the public. He had gotten used to that long ago, though Draco had not. He still bristled at the lurid headlines that accompanied their outings.

She looked up at the tousled-haired man who appeared to be taking the news of his pregnancy with a calmness that befitted his image as the Saviour. Smiling at him, the Healer continued, "I know you've had ample contact with all kinds of magic during your battles with Voldemort. I read you were bitten by a basilisk."

"Yes, it was hard." Harry finished the last of the crackers and took out his wand to vanish the crumbs on the floor.

"And a phoenix cured you," said Aynesworth, her gaze straying to the window and the birds that flew towards the church spire in the distance. "I'm hazarding a guess, but I'd say the phoenix tears interacted with your magic."

"Merlin!"

"And when you met your partner, his magical core reacted with yours." Healer Aynesworth grinned, recalling the stories she read in the Daily Prophet about the sudden romance between Harry and Draco, the reformed Dark wizard who fought to save Harry in his own devious, Slytherin way.

"So if it hadn't been Draco," said Harry, biting his lip, "I wouldn't have become pregnant?"

"Your lives are intertwined, Mr Potter." The Healer reclined on her swivelled chair and gently put down her quill. "That unauthorized biography put it quite clearly."

"Bloody Zacharias Smith!" grumbled Harry, recalling the excerpts which the Prophet had printed, "I reckon the book was ghost-written, probably by Binns. It's that boring!"

Ignoring Harry's outburst, Aynesworth said, "The Sectumsempra bound you two even more and—"

The sound of a soft knock at the door interrupted the Healer. "May I come in?"

"The door's open."

Draco gazed at the beaming face of his fiancé. "Sorry, I couldn't come sooner because the Head Auror insisted on showing us his new graphs. I take it there's no bad news."

"I'm pregnant!" blurted Harry. He walked towards Draco and hugged him. It was a good thing because the blond staggered back. He felt week in the knees and if it hadn't been for Harry, he would have fallen.

Harry noticed how nervous Draco was; his eyes were glazed and he appeared to have lost the power of speech.

"Whaaa… you pregnant? You're… taking the piss, aren't you?" Draco babbled; his body was shaking and Healer Aynesworth raised her eyebrows, motioning to the couch.

Harry led his astounded fiancé there so he could sit down. Then he conjured a glass of water which Draco sipped slowly.

"You're angry?" Harry sat on the couch and fidgeted. He hadn't counted on Draco reacting so strongly.

Noticing Harry's worried frown, Draco hastily said, "Not at all!"

He kissed the tanned, smooth cheek. "It's sudden that's all. Wait till Mother finds out!"

The Healer gave Harry a parchment with advice, including a list of books about male pregnancy. "In the staff, we have discreet Healers you can rely on. Would you like a list?"

Harry took a deep breath. He trusted Aynesworth's brisk, efficient manner. "That won't be necessary. I'd like it if you were my Healer through the pregnancy."

Theresa beamed at him. "That would be an honour."

When they were making their way out, the Healer said, "Could you stay for a moment, Mr Potter?"

"I'll wait for you outside," said Draco, straightening his robes. He went out the door, a bit shakily.

Aynesworth steepled her fingers. "May I be blunt?"

Harry nodded, unsure of what the Healer wanted.

"Do you switch positions in bed?"

"What do you mean?" said Harry and then he blushed, realising what she meant. "Mmmh, we do. Sometimes."

"The link in your magic that allowed you to become pregnant, Mr Potter... it works both ways."

"You mean Draco could--?"

"Exactly, and judging by his emotional response, I wonder—"

Harry lifted his hands. "Trust me; he is like this all the time."

oOoOo

Harry woke up from a dream where a blond toddler was playing with paunchy dragons. He rubbed his eyes, hearing strange sounds coming from the bathroom.

Squinting at the curtains dimly lit by the dawn, Harry searched for his glasses on the night table. He grew quite worried, recognising the sounds of throwing up, and grabbed his wand which was on the chiffonier whilst he padded to the bathroom. His boyfriend was kneeling over the ceramic bowl.

Harry cast a quick Tergeo as he patted Draco's shoulder.

"Must be something I ate," said Draco tiredly.

"Or you are pregnant, we've discussed the possibility." Harry brushed a lock of blond hair off Draco's sweaty forehead, disregarding the scowl directed his way.

"I've told you, Harry, Malfoys make their partners pregnant," huffed Draco, "they don't get pregnant themselves!"

Harry rolled his eyes whilst the two made their way to the bedroom. Draco sat on the edge of the bed and fingered the green duvet, aware that Harry was waving his wand at him.

The brunet cast one of the spells that were discussed on the book about male pregnancies he'd been reading. When the light hovering above Draco's frowning face turned a bright magenta, Harry jumped with joy. "You're pregnant too! It's great!"

Draco groaned.

Harry waved his wand at his clothes, strewn all over the chair. They obediently flew to him whilst he grabbed a quill. He sauntered to the living room without waiting for his robes to catch up with him whilst he said, "Going to make you an appointment with Healer Aynesworth!"

oOoOo

Lucius squinted at the Muggle paper, trying to understand what they meant about the Twitter trends. His white hair shining in the morning light, Lucius shook his head approvingly; if Muggles also used birds to communicate, surely they weren't so backward after all.

He grabbed the cup of tea and sipped slowly, until a shriek disturbed him. A little liquid slopped over the edge of the cup, trickling down on the paper.

He looked up at the radiant figure of his wife who was poised on the threshold. Narcissa waved a parchment, her face lit with joy whilst she touched wonderingly the braids framing her slim, alabaster neck. "Lucius, guess what?"

"What, dear?"

"Harry is pregnant!"

Lucius smirked; he had found this out due to his contacts at St. Mungo's. "I'm afraid that's old news, Narcissa."

She smiled predatorily, which made the Malfoy patriarch gulp. Narcissa swooped down on her husband, gently taking the cup from him. "Someone else is pregnant, Lucius. Your dear son!"

"What? Draco too!" Lucius shuddered delicately, imagining blond and brunet toddlers all over the Manor; they would surely do all kinds of mischief just like Draco and Potter. He rubbed his hands in glee.

"Wonderful news, dear. How did you find out?"

Narcissa cooed, "A bird told me."

"What do you mean, exactly?"

She smiled craftily. "Whenever Harry sends a letter, Damara always comes here for the special treats I give her," said Narcissa primly, "I may, inadvertently of course, read his messages."

Lucius grabbed her hand and kissed the palm. "I love your devious Slytherin ways, dear."

Ha! I love so much in this: Narcissa and her bird-plan to keep up on the guys, Lucius and Twitter and of course Draco's drama-queen forever reactions.
Good work, although I would like to have seen Draco with that fluffy tail ;)

Narcissa wants to keep up with the news, Malfoy style :)

Lucius is intrigued by Twitter, and Draco was surprised. Draco with a fluffy tail would make a conspicuous Auror, though he might use it to catch criminals :D

Thank you!

Great reaction from both parents. Narcissa is a fine example of her house's best traits.

Haha this was great. I loved how they were both pregnant. And Narcissa with the owl. Oh, Slytherin mothers crack me up. I can't imagine what she'll be like as a grandmother.

Thank you! Narcissa gets what she wants, and she wants to know what the boys are up to :) She'll have her hands full as grandmother, if the babies are anything like Draco and Harry!
