"It is." Ron glared at Harry.
"Give us an example, please!" He scowled at Hermione. In retrospect, he should've guessed she would always win, mused Ron. Just once, he'd love to best them at Squabbling Scrabble, the board game of the twins.
He motioned towards Harry. "Your boyfriend!"
"Reckon Draco's a git," said Harry fondly, remembering the blond Potions apprentice. "He's not retro, though!"
"He is!" huffed Ron. "Fixated in the past. The only new thing he fancies is you!"
"Remember the potion the twins made for the tiles?"
Ron gulped because the tiles trembled.

The tiles quivered towards the redhead. The E's appeared particularly intent on jumping on Ron, moving retrogressively with a menacing tilt.
"Last chance!" huffed Hermione whilst she crossed her arms.
"Retrogit is a true w…!" Ron couldn't finish because the tiles pounced on him all at once. He jumped out from the couch and staggered backwards.
He ran to the kitchen and took out his wand, casting a spell towards the flying pieces of wood coming from the living room. He wished his Put-Outer would work on the stupid tiles!
When he heard Hermione and Harry sniggering, Ron had enough!

Draco caressed lovingly his broom and handed it to Ron. "That, Weasley, is the new Cirrocumulus."
Ron touched reverently the aerodynamic bristles whilst Draco drawled, "Had it especially retrofitted so I can beat Harry."
"Knew you were retro!" mumbled Ron low under his breath.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
Having noticed the bitterness in Draco's tone, Ron knew he had a possible ally. "Harry won't be easy to beat."
"Don't I know it!" growled Draco.
Ron wiggled his eyebrows. "However, you and I could beat Harry and Hermione."
"How?" Draco liked the Slytherin tilt in Weasley's conversation.
"Through this game…"

"Are you sure your potion will work?" said Ron whilst he munched on his sandwich.
Draco wiped his brow and continued stirring clockwise. "I've devised the counter-potion, according to the list you pilfered from your brothers."
"Who's playing? The Weird Sisters?" The tune seemed awfully familiar to Ron.
"Yeah, it's the live album titled 'A painful retrospective.'" Draco finished the potion and smirked. "In the next song you can hear their screams when…"
"Those hags went berserk and rushed them onstage?" Ron said, smiling around the sandwich.
"Indeed."
"Those were the days!" Ron had seen the pictures in the Prophet.

"Do tell us about your work, dear." Narcissa smiled at Professor Sinistra.
"I've planned fascinating lessons about the retrograde movement of planets!" Sinistra gushed, in excruciating detail, about her plans.
Lucius exchanged a commiserating glance with Harry. He hadn't expected to bond with Draco's annoying Gryffindor friends over his wife's guests, but that was precisely what was happening. Grubby-Plank and Sinistra! Unless this was Narcissa's plan...
Lucius' glance swept across the table. Ron, Draco, Pansy, even Blaise, appeared to share his feelings. When Sinistra finished, everyone sighed in relief that proved short-lived because Hermione started talking about astronomy. They groaned.

"Sorry, Draco," said Harry after he dismounted from his broom with the Snitch on his hand.
"Sure." Draco kissed Harry's sun-chapped nose, smiling.
Harry was suspicious. Draco hated it when he beat him.
Pansy walked up to her friend and touched Draco's shoulder. "I've got to go. My mother is expecting us this evening."
"You'll win sometime, Draco." Blaise patted the blond's shoulder and leaned forward. "You must; Slytherin honour and all that."
After they'd gone, Ron muttered, "Your pug-nosed friend is nice."
"Pansy prefers to think of it as a retroussé nose."
"How do you spell that?" said Ron.

Hermione pointed at the tiles. "You made it up!"
"Read it on Fred's comics! It's a superhero's name!" Ron growled, "Ferretro is a real word!"
Harry stared at Ron with wide eyes. "Don't say the F-word!" Thankfully Draco had gone to get the pizza.
Hermione scowled. "Guess this Ferretro is the Amazing Bouncing superhero that wears tights and a cape and flies everywhere as a retrogressed… ferret!"
Harry bit his fist to repress his moans. The image of Draco wearing green tights and cape, carrying Harry on his arms was very hot! He should persuade Draco to dress like that!

Draco sauntered towards them, carrying the pizza. He drawled, "Trio in trouble! Who would've guessed?"
"It's a real word," Ron said to his friends whilst he looked sideways at the tiles which were poised to attack him. Draco had used his brew but the wood struggled under the influence of the different potions. If Malfoy's talent prevailed, Ron would win!
The tiles' paths diverged; the H's and most of the E's moved towards Harry and Hermione, pouncing on them. Meanwhile the R's and D's slid on a retrograde motion across the polished table and launched themselves at Ron and Draco.

Waving at his friends, Harry closed the door of the apartment with a soft thudding noise. He smiled at Draco, who appeared particularly smug. "Those letters went berserk!"
"Indeed, Harry. Luckily I cast a wandless spell that allowed us to run to the kitchen."
"And you won the game with that strange word," said Harry fondly.
"Well, mother's penchant for inviting learned guests to dinner pays off once in a while," drawled Draco whilst he stalked towards Harry.
Draco caressed the soft stubble on Harry's cheek whilst he gazed at the green eyes. "I loved you retroactively for so long."
