I'm posting this meme, which I took from [livejournal.com profile] edith_jones, in the spirit of Samhain and All Souls' Day.

1. What's the scariest book you've ever read?
2. When was the first time you were ever really frightened by a book?
3. True crime - do you read it and if so, whose books do you enjoy?
4. Ghost stories - do you read them? Name a favourite if you're a fan.
5. Horror - do you read it? Whose works do you like?
6. Do you read non-fiction works about the paranormal, the occult, ESP, ghosts, UFOs, or life after death? If so, what do you particularly enjoy reading about?
7. Is there an author whose works you find frightening even though they're not writing in the ghost story/horror/thriller categories?
8. Is there an author whose books you won't read because you find their books too scary?
9. Have you ever written any scary fiction or non-fiction yourself?
10. Give a recommendation of something within the confines of this meme that you think others would enjoy.

1. What's the scariest book you've ever read?  Pet Sematary by Stephen King. The family is so nice and the things that happen to them escalate out of control so randomly it's frightening. The book grabbed me from the last sentence of the first page: Death is a mystery, and burial is a secret.

2. When was the first time you were ever really frightened by a book? It was when I was 12 years old and read Dracula. The first scene with Jonathan Harker in a cemetery during Walpurgis night was really scary.

3. True crime - do you read it and if so, whose books do you enjoy? No, I don't read it.

4. Ghost stories - do you read them? Name a favourite if you're a fan. King has lots of ghosts in his stories, also Peter Straub. My favorite is King's short story 'Do the dead sing?' which is in Skeleton Key.

5. Horror - do you read it? Whose works do you like? Yes, I do. I like Lovecraft, Poe, King, Peter Straub and Clive Barker

6. Do you read non-fiction works about the paranormal, the occult, ESP, ghosts, UFOs, or life after death? If so, what do you particularly enjoy reading about? Not really, I have read a few but prefer fiction books, TV shows or movies about these themes.

7. Is there an author whose works you find frightening even though they're not writing in the ghost story/horror/thriller categories? No.

8. Is there an author whose books you won't read because you find their books too scary? I might pick up a book and not finish on account of the plot or something, but I wouldn't be too scared to start reading.

9. Have you ever written any scary fiction or non-fiction yourself? I wrote The wendigo.

10. Give a recommendation of something within the confines of this meme that you think others would enjoy. Lovecraft's 'The whisperer in darkness.'

I never, ever watch/read anything again where in animals are hurt or killed, cause it makes my cry,and I'll never get the image out of my head again!!!!

What really can scare me are movie's though,I one's made the mistake of watching 'Preditor'and I screamed the whole house awake after that(not just that one time!),only a few months ago I had a nightmare about 'him' again!Gruesome thing...ugh!!!!

That was bad, but what happens later is worse!! And the ending... was great but horrifying.

I'm not that scared by movies; I loved Predator, especially the infrared thing with the Predator. He was ugly though, terrifyingly so!!!!

Luckily I don't remember!!!!And no ,I don't need an update!!!!

I kept on dreaming about the ugly bastard standing in my room, woke up screaming, jumped out of bed and run down the stairs screaming"he's in my room again, now I'm gonna kill him"!!!
Last time I saw him was here in my own house, he was downstairs peaking into the hall waving at me and saying"I'm coming up...."!After all those years......:(

Weird thing is ,it's the only movie I ever had that with!

Well, you're losing on the stuff nightmares are made of!! ;DDD

That sounds like a very vivid dream!! If I had had it I would've done the same. You need a dreamcatcher!

The alien was menacing and terryfing but I was more intent on Arnold's plan and the infrared thing and the jungle!
